HOUSTON, September 25, 2011— Sentai Filmworks fulfills the fantasies of fans of feudal fighting females with the company’s newest announcement, MAJIKOI ~ OH! SAMURAI GIRLS! Based on the mega-hit PC game Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!! from MinatoSoft, the 12 episode series focuses on a city where almost everyone has a Samurai obsession. Direction is by Keitaro Motonaga (Getbackers, Yumeria,) using character designs by Mayumi Watanabe (Fandora, Fairy Tail, Freezing) and story supervision by Katsuhiko Takayama (And yet The Town Moves, e.f. A Tale of Memories.)
In the future cities appear the same on the surface but you do not have to look far to note the differences. Cities are locked up tight, many things are automated, and refugees who are not citizens are taking sanctuary in a closed stadium.
Sent to Earth, interstellar Space Agent Birdie is out to find more on those pesky aliens while under an assumed identity kept secret by her organization. Under the guise of a popular idol, she seeks her aliens one night, still on her secret mission, and comes across a young boy. Tsutomi, who is caught in her line of fire, annoyed that he got between her and her prey, and sad he got hurt, Birdie helps him repair his body by using her new technology to fuse his body to hers so he can come along on her adventures. This is just the start of the fun, though.
Aoba tries to awaken the demon within Sakura at great cost to the lonely young girl’s dreams of love with the prince who has long held her adoration. He reveals some of his own astonishing powers and goes to further cruel lengths to attempt to force her to become a youko and be destroyed – by him!
Sakura and Aoba are to part ways – forever. She has agreed to live at his uncle’s estate, even marry the man for the sake of others, but she truly yearns for Aoba and he for her. Love tries to find a way, but will it be enough when an immortal loves a mere mortal human man?
