STELLA'S WOMEN'S ACADEMYSYNOPSIS:

When Yura Yamato’s roomate Sonora asks her to join her club, she believes it to be your average drama or movie club, but it turns out Sonora belongs to a club known as C3 (which stands for Command, Control and Communications) who’s main after school activity is playing survival games! It’s definitely not the pastime Yura would have expected, but Sonora and her friends are very passionate about it. Now she has to decide whether she wants to join and if she does, can she make the cut and become an ace gunslinger?  Scope out the insanity as Yura pulls the trigger and throws everyone’s battle plans into total disarray in Stella Women’s Academy, High Shool Division Class C3!

REVIEW:

The anime adaptation of Ikoma Getsumin’s manga is a light-hearted slice-of-life high school comedy that is upbeat yet relaxing. Yura Yamato is a shy teenage girl who just transferred from middle school to the prestigous Stella Women’s Academy. She pictures it as a fairy tale come to life with the refined and upper-class atmosphere the school appears to have, but this changes quickly upon discovering that her roomate is part of C3, a survival club for gun enthusiasts. What’s more, the group is recruiting and she’s their primary target. After several unusual attempts at getting her to join, Yura feels that their attempts caused her to have a lot of fun and feels she should be friends with them and happily becomes a member.

As a member of C3, Yura learns that while survival games are the main activity, there are many different unusual and hilarious circumstances in which they must apply their skills, such as at a traditional shooting range, on a tropical island, or even at the annual school fair inside the school. Although the games are generally friendly against other rival teams, we learn that there may be one exception involving a former friend of Sonora.

Yura herself is shy and socially awkward, finding it difficult to make friends, but her kind personality and incredible imagination help mitigate her new relationships. At her previous school, she had few friends and tends to go into her own imaginary world, but the outgoing

attitudes of the C3 members, in particular Sonora, help her break out of her shell and live an exciting school life.

The quirky antics of the C3 members and Yura’s imagination sequences contribute to the show’s humor while still giving a good look into each person’s personality and how they view the world.

The animation and sound is crisp and clear, though the character designs are pretty standard for a high school comedy.
