Thank you so much for inviting us to speak with you today. First, you say that this site will be the first of its kind. What makes Daisuki so unique? In which countries can we expect Daisuke to offer their services?

A: DAISUKI.net is a website that provides anime streaming to anime fans worldwide. Recently there are various streaming sites with legal content. That’s a positive development. But with those anime productions and studios being our shareholders, DAISUKI is receiving long lists of Anime titles from the studios directly that are ready to be streamed, so we are able to offer a large variety of series. Moreover because of that direct connection we can provide exclusive material (e.g. backstage-cuts, making-of and message videos by creators, producers and voice actors). This is one point that makes DAISUKI special: We want to build a “bridge” between overseas fans and Japanese creators. Furthermore, our web-store will offer limited official items that will be only available at DAISUKI’s store.

Basically the service will be available worldwide (there may be some regional restrictions though, depending on the series).

Your site mentions free online shows including fan favorite titles such as Mobile Suit Gundam, Modoka Magica, One Piece, Lupin the Third, and Prince of Tennis. What other anime shows are you hoping to showcase in the future?

A: We cannot reveal specific titles yet, but we have a long list. Some of them have never been released overseas or even are not localized yet. Of course, we are planning simulcast streaming in the future, too. So fans can expect a wide range of variety: DAISUKI will show newer series as well as older classics of different genres. We hope to present the variety and depth of Japanese Anime culture and history.

With big names in the Japanese animation industry like Aniplex, Toei Animation, Sunrise, and others attached to this project, what will that mean for the kind of content visitors to your site can expect?

A: DAISUKI will be able to stream a great number of series from all the studios and production companies. Each of them has numerous titles since most of them have a long history and their work lists go back even until the 60s. Furthermore, with having the direct connections to the studios we can provide exclusive material.

Since Daisuki shareholders deals with other companies to distribute their product, can we expect that Daisuki will stream their productions first before they are licensed?

A: We try to provide new and fresh content as fast as we can so that DAISUKI will become the no. 1 stop for Anime fans to watch new contents.

How will fans be able to access all that Daisuki has to offer? Will it require creating a membership and is the membership, in and of itself, free?

A: There will be a membership system, but for the first period you can watch the videos even if you are not a registered user. Also, the membership itself will be free. Some exclusive titles and contents are planned to be fee-based.

Your new online portal promises free downloads, but does mention that certain premium content will have cost. Can you enlighten our fans as to what premium content that might be? And what kind of prices would they be looking at?

A: DAISUKI will offer free streaming. So you can watch, but we do not offer downloads. Premium content would be for example some specific series that is designated by the studio to stream not for free. We are working on various types of contents to provide attractive premium stuff. Besides that, it is also planned to stream Anime Music and Game-related content.

Some of the shows that Daisuki are planning to offer has made it already to North America; can the fans expect both English and Japanese audio? Will Daisuki use proprietary technology or industry standards to offer online streaming?

A: The videos on DAISUKI will mainly have Japanese original audio with English subtitles. Regarding technical details, HD quality is planned. More details will be announced soon.

Do Daisuki plans to offer this unique service to the gaming , tablets, and smartphones platform?

A: Yes, we are planning to offer the service for smartphones, tablets and video game consoles as well in the future.

What is the long term goal of the company, and with the ever changing online environment, and anime industry, how can Daisuke lead the way of this type of distribution?

A: The main purpose is to create a legal platform where overseas fans can watch various Japanese Animes. We hope that fans will like and come back to DAISUKI to watch new content, purchase rare official goods and get the newest information directly from Japan (we will also create a NEWS section).

Is there anything you’d like to say to the fans about Daisuki?

A: Thank you for reading, thank you for your interest in DAISUKI.net and Japanese anime overall! Please enjoy our service.
