Sakura has been kidnapped by Enju and taken to the Moon Kingdom. There she will learn more about her brother, her ‘people’ and the fate of two worlds.
Enju may seem doting to Sakura but she quickly sees a different side to him. When she meets Rurijo, a doppelganger created to look just like Sakura, the girl learns of the true depths of Enju’s depravity. He’s mad, quite literally. He hates humans and to save the dying kingdom, he is doing close the equivalent of grinding their bones to make his bread. He wants to replenish and save the moon people but at the cost of the entire human species! Sakura is somehow the key to his evil plans and she prays for a way to escape.
Rurijo however has plans of her own. She goes to Earth to try to dupe Aoba into loving her, thinking she’s Sakura. Her aim is to hurt Sakura but she is found out and Aoba and his allies along with Sakura’s friends storm the moon kingdom to save Sakura. The fight is on.
They first battle Maimai. His back story is tragic. It leaves the reader with the feeling that the stories of many of these moon people will be sad ones, making them more than simply villains, but sympathetic characters who were pushed to the wrong extreme by understandable means.
The current events give a whole new direction for the manga. Now instead of Sakura fending off maniacal human plots, she now must also fend of those of the moon as well. Instead of battling random monsters, there is a larger plot and an organized group at work with a devastating agenda.
The latest volume ends with a bonus story about Asigiri which proves very touching.
Big changes and bigger dangers loom large in the latest captivating volume of Sakura Hime!
