As Train Heartnet, Eve and Sven Vollfied get closer to the final battle ground, things heat up on the way. They encounter two Chronos numbers, Baldorias S. Fanghini (Baldor or number VIII) and his partner, Krantz Maduke (number IV). Baldor is very annoyingly arrogant, while Krantz hardly says anything. Eve tries to save an enemy soldier, but gets a rude awakening about what enemies are willing to do to win, including sacrificing themselves to do it.
Meanwhile, Sephiria Arks, Chronos number I and the Captain, is fighting Creed. And she’s doing a pretty good job at first. Creed, however, has a huge advantage. He can heal very quickly, almost like magic, and his weapon, we find out, has more levels than ever before. A very strong fighter and an expert with her sword, she holds her own until she unleashes her ultimate move that drains most of her energy. Will she live, or will Creed kill her?
Sven and Eve are now fighting two experimental soldiers that could go beserk at any time. Train doesn’t want to leave them in that situation, but Eve says something that doesn’t give him much choice. He goes to find Creed while Eve and Sven fight the beserkers. Are Eve and Sven up to the challenge?
The art is wonderfully detailed and full of expression as usual. The climax is nearing and the story is reflecting that very well, without giving major things away. The comedy is still there, but it is a bit more subtle than usual. The banter between Train and Baldor is priceless!
The final fight is coming with a vengeance! Be prepared for action, action and more action in this latest volume of Black Cat!
