Yoh has withdrawn from the fight! Why? To save his friend Ren Tao, who currently is unconscious on a rock outcropping. Lady Jeanne, the leader of the X-Laws, named her price, and that was it. Her second in command thought that Yoh would never give up something that important to save a friend. He starts accusing Yoh of having an ulterior motive, some other reason for seeming to give up the fight. Yoh hasn’t one. He has really withdrawn from the fight. But it is one of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make because it doesn’t only effect him, but Anna, too.
After that surprising turn of events, Anna recalls her first encounter with Yoh, when they were betrothed. She wasn’t as calm as she is now. Her powers were untrained and wild. No one wanted to be around her. She was lost, hurting and alone, not letting anyone in. Yoh, however, was much like he is now, laid back, taking everything in stride, until he found out that he was going to be betrothed. As soon as that happened, his life changed, for the better or worse no one knows.
To help with the life change, Yoh met his first spirit ally, Matamune, a split-tailed cat that has been around for a very long time. Matamune was very mysterious in his ways, but gave advice when Yoh needed it. Yoh very much needed advice at this time. Both of them ended up going to Mt. Osore, the place between this world and the next, where derelict ghosts end up. What will happen on that mountain? Let’s hope that Yoh and Matamune help with her problem powers.
The past and present collide in this latest, exciting volume of Shaman King!
