The double date between Len and Kahoko and Ryo with Mizue takes some unexpected turns when hearts dance to different tunes in the latest volume of La Corda D’Oro. Len keeps watching but it is Ryo who can’t stop reacting to Kahoko even though he’s with Mizue. It seems these couples should switch partners. During the date Ryo realizes his true feelings for Kahoko and he’s not the only one. Kazuki also struggles with his feelings for the girl and both young men will have a hard time coming to terms with their emotions as they play music and try to fathom their hearts in these chapters.
With the final selection coming up, Kahoko struggles with her playing. The school is saying nasty things about the change in her tune since her magical violin faded. But she loves music and a few choice friends give her the courage to find her own song and carry on. The most unexpected thing in this volume isn’t her playing or Kazuki and Ryo’s feelings for her. Instead it is the odd companionship found between Len and Ryo that takes them and their friends by surprise in this volume. They come to an understanding and it seems like these two very different personalities and talents might have the gift to make beautiful music together. Right now it looks like they’re the shoe in for the winners of the music competition. Kahoko though really shows her good spirits and her love for music. She doesn’t feel harsh towards them for their talent, but is instead inspired to try harder to be the best she can be with her violin.
Manga extras include more fun with another journalism backstage excerpt and a bonus story showing a young Ryo who met a certain music student in his tender years and perhaps doesn’t remember it now.
Love changes its tune in the latest volume of the manga for a couple of the characters. And an unlikely combination could prove to be beautiful music together – and might signal the sure winners of the music competition as it moves into its final selection.
