Creed Discans is recovering from his wound after his battle, and when Durham comes back from his fight with Train Heartnett, he comes back a defeated man, unhappy and hell-bent on vengeance. Though when he tells Creed what he thinks of Train, he gets an unexpected reply.
Kyoko as a member of The Apostles of the Star faces a difficult choice if she is to battle with Train and the Chronos members. She will have to fight with Black Cat, but she will find it hard to hurt him in combat as she is so in love with him. Charden feels that Creed sees the Apostles as nothing but tools he can use to get what he wants and he is bored with being controlled by him. Charden and Kyoko decide to leave, and he drops her off at home so she can live a normal life for a while. Their antics do not go without anyone knowing, as someone in the Apostles knows about their plan.
Creed's Doctor is working on something more dangerous than the original project. A bullet filled with nano machines, and given the name of Lucifer is more deadly, but engineered by the one of the Apostles who says if injected into the bloodstream, it will cause the victim to transform into a ravening beast. It is only in its early stages of development, but it shows much promise, and he comes to a conclusion that he wants to experiment with the serum on young Kyoko.
Volume four is more a tale of heartwarming love around Kyoko and her love Mr. Black. Her crazy mannerisms and insistance to be around him all the time make for fun viewing, while the rest of the Apostles make their plans for domination, with Creed leading the way. Train Heartnett suffers a setback when he is de-evolved to become a child version of himself, and wants to find a way to get his life back to normal. It is fortunate for him he has Sven Vollfied and Eve standing by him helping him out as he has plenty of time to reflect on his past, and his desire to avenge himself, and try to come to terms with whether or not his life was in vain.
The story generally goes along at its own speed, and keeps the interest enough with humor and one-liners.
