Train, Sven, Eve, the Hunters, and Surviving Chronos Numbers have managed to win the day against Creed and the Apostles of the Star. They don’t have time to celebrate though, when the Zero Numbers emerge from the ashes to take all human life on Earth and reshape it into their own twisted utopia! Eve’s true nature is revealed and the existence of all humanity is at hand! Can Train and Sven defeat assassins who have managed to merge both the lethal abilities of the nano-machines with the awesome power of Tao? The end is nigh in the final volume of Black Cat!

This is a highly involving yet unusual final volume to a series. The story throughout the anime has been firmly on Train and Creed. With that story tied up last volume, this story arc with Eve plays like an all new chapter, but one that is wrapped up in only four episodes. In some ways this volume plays more like a stand alone as although it is closely associated with the rest of the series, the story is contained within this one volume. It’s all about the different facets of Eve. Everyone who survived the Apostles battle must band together for a monumental fight to save all of humanity against one of their own allies – Eve. It’s a suspenseful story that is nearly non-stop action. Eve and Sven fans get a great amount of thrills as these two are given the main stage as the last act of the anime is played out.

The animation remains dazzling. With all the action there’s a lot to see, however it is quite fragmented throughout, which at times makes the action harder to follow in spots. Nevertheless, it is breathtaking in many scenes and all the various characters fighting give eye-catching moments to each one. Whoever you’re a fan of the most, guaranteed they are in the finale one way or another. There’s even a return of some of the Apostles, and one very surprising reunion for Train.
