SERIES SYNOPSIS:
Yoh Asakura is a shaman – one of the gifted few who are able to channel spirits that most people can’t even see. He has spent years in training for the Shaman Fight, an epic tournament to determine who will become the Shaman King and shape the future of humanity. Unfortunately for Yoh, every shaman in the world is vying for the same prize…

REVIEW:
With the preliminaries behind them, Yoh and the others are off to find the hidden village where the main competition is set to begin. On their way there however, Anna and Tamao discover a weighty secret regarding Hao and Yoh. Tamao makes things worse by breaking a seal and letting loose two invincible ogres! Meanwhile the gang on the road is having its own troubles. Horohoro faces a dramatic moment when he tries to help out a woman and a bear. And Wooden Sword Ryu takes a stand when the gang faces off against a foe who claims to be a…vampire!?

Vibrant action, imaginative plot twists and a creative world of the shaman fighters, Shaman King is a unique and stylish shonen series. This volume sees a pivotal secret revealed and it will be interesting to see if Anna or Tamao will tell Yoh what they’ve learned and the repercussions later on. The appearance of Borlis Dracula is one that evokes some suspenseful action sequences. The story arc involving Horohoro on his own gives the readers some telling insights into his character as well as solidifying the viewpoint of the shamanistic way of life in the series.

The creative world of Shaman King is exciting and original in imagination and detail. The concept of the oversouls, the differing styles of the shaman fighters and the frequent creative plot twists keep the show exhilarating to read. The dynamic art style is a pleasure to look at and hosts exciting action along with appealing characters designs overall.

Extras include a bonus story at the end and Shaman Character Profiles throughout the manga.
